The founder was facing cash flow problems because she was dependent upon a small number of very large invoices with 60 day payment terms.

Payday was approaching and the founder was concerned she wouldn’t have funds to pay her staff.

Having never used finance before in her business, the founder was very worried about the process and knew she had an imperfect personal credit score.

How we helped them RISE

The first thing we did was acknowledge her anxiety around her responsibility to pay her employees on time. She clearly genuinely cared about the team she had built and wanted to make the best decisions for them and the business.

She wanted to understand the details of each financing option before taking any action.

We made it very clear that she was in control and we were there to help by providing solutions and examples and answering any questions she had.

We matched her to an invoice finance lender that would advance up to 80% of each invoice at 1.75% interest every 30 days.

However, this arrangement required her clients to change the account they paid into - it would now be a ‘trust account’ from which the lender could withdraw their repayment and interest.

But changing finance details can be a slow process in large organisations, and our client needed to pay her team in the next few days.

So in addition we quickly arranged a flexible-term loan of £40k at 18.9% flat rate over 24 months.

This loan had no early repayment penalties, so it could be paid off as soon as the funds cleared from the major client.
